2006 Update from the President

Dear MHRV Member:

The success of most organizations rests on their ability to change with market conditions and consumer preferences. This year at MHRV, we’ve taken steps to solidify our future.

At the beginning of 2006, we hired our first Associate Director, a new staff position for MHRV. This position is responsible for working with our Show Director and becoming a back-up for show operations should the need arise. The position will also take a leadership role to develop marketing and promotional programs, manage membership needs, and assist with all MHRV committee activities.

Looking toward our future, several projects were initiated to secure market and consumer intelligence concerning our shows. First, new consumer-friendly kiosks were set-up at our Puyallup and Seattle Fall Shows and we received essential information concerning advertising medium preferences and future e-mailing opportunities. Next, we’ve secured the services of Hebert Research to conduct a major market research project that will identify our needs for market positioning, show changes and enhancements, promotions and how to increase show attendance from non-attendees and current RV and manufactured home owners.

Several new promotions were introduced at this year’s shows to keep interest fresh and attendance building. In addition, some targeted direct marketing produced significant response for our Seattle shows. Next year’s February Seattle show will mark the introduction of our new e-ticketing program that will enable us to offer new special incentives to prospective show attendees.

Our second annual Industry Gala was an even bigger success raising $12,404 to support WMHA and WSRVDA for funding of legislative issues. It was a wonderful opportunity for members of both the manufactured housing industry and the RV industry to meet and enjoy an evening of fun, food and industry education. Next year’s Gala will take place on April 21, 2007 at the Marriott Courtyard in Tacoma. We hope to see everyone there.

Sadly, we lost a valuable resource and more importantly a wonderful friend late this year. Larry Nelson, our Senior Vice President passed away unexpectedly. His contributions to our industry were numerous and he is sorely missed.

We are focused on the future and continued success of our MHRV Shows and will continue to strengthen our ability to provide The Biggest Shows! The Best Selection!

Sincerely,

Lisa Johnson President

MHRV Board of Directors Promotes Communication with its Members

March 8, 2004

Dear MHRV Member,

What a great moment in the life of MHRV! Building on more than two years of hard work creating our association’s new brand, we are well into the work of achieving our comprehensive marketing plan that will help us improve our three shows for many years to come. We are aligning the economics of our business with our mission and vision for the future. We want to explore how MHRV can achieve even greater influence in the Manufactured Home and RV industries.

We are making significant investments in growing the value of MHRV. Take our marketing, for example. In 2003, we completed a comprehensive marketing plan, a key component in a far-reaching commitment towards excellence with our logos and taglines for the association and each show, professional brochures, business cards and letterhead, promotional items and our Web site.

But these are just a few of the investments we have made in excellence. Our vision guides us into the future. Grounding everything we do on the circle of value, we are committed to engaging our mission to improve our association. Through our marketing plan, our desire to increase membership while also supporting the Manufactured Home and RV industries and what we model together as an association, we are making a difference beyond our shows.

As we embrace the future, we always seek to be faithful to our mission and the circle of value at MHRV. We count on your partnership as we unfold our strategy to grow our three shows.

To help us grow, the board of directors has established two distinct avenues for which you can express your comments.

The first and most convenient avenue is listed in our MHRV brochure and is marked on our new Web site. By e-mailing us at http://www.mhrvshows.com/contact.html you can clearly express your comments. Our show director will collect your comments and present them at our next board meeting.

The second avenue is by attending one of our board meetings. We have invested time in our agenda called "member comments." This is your opportunity to present comments to the board of directors. If you would like to attend one of our board meetings or would like more information feel free to contact me at philpl@spu.edu or by phone at (206) 281-2314.

I hope you find this letter of descriptive improvements towards excellence helpful. These are indicators of our success, signs of value, at MHRV. But it’s important to consider our board of directors, show director, staff and our members – behind the success, those who day in and day out work together to make this great association what it is today.

Sincerely,

Phil Pletcher, President

MHRV Re-defines itself in new brand
The Manufactured Home and Recreational Vehicle Show Association has just completed the months-long process of rebranding itself and refining its identity. MHRV Show Association President, Dana DeTray said, “As an organization with specific goals to serve not only our members, but the industries we represent, we felt it was time to bring the level of professionalism we would seek for ourselves to the Association”

The work of Marketing Committee and tmarksdesign, the rebrand efforts yielded a new understanding and definition of the brand for the organization, but more visibly a new Association logo, new logos for each of its three shows and new taglines for each to better define the entity and the shows in the mind of consumers and members. Additionally, new literature and website have been completed as well.

"It's been a good deal of work, but it has been well worth it." said DeTray, “It is already having great results for the MHRV."
